Fall 2021 Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge: Week 4

Guess what?! It’s okay to ask for help!

As a strong independent femenist female, I often get stubborn on projects. I want to be able to do it all! The truth is, I know I CAN do every bit of this project, but it really isn’t practical to renovate my bathroom in 6 weeks to the standards I am aiming for all by myself. So this week, I broke down and asked for help.

Kidding! Totally kidding. I actually got human help! And it was such a relief to have a sidekick.

OK...for real, though! Cookie came in strong this week and taught me the steps to sheetrocking. This is a step I definitely don’t want to get wrong. And Ani helped me with a Home Depot run for some lumber for this wall I built. She used her newly acquired skills to choose all of the straight 2x3s for the job. Although I could have handled this step on my own, her eagerness to learn reignited my excitement for this project. She is watching! Our children are watching!

While it would be easy to focus on all of the things that didn’t go right this week and all of the things left to do, I choose looking forward! I look forward to installing backerboard and the shower pan. I look forward to patching the sheetrock and smoothing out those walls. I look forward to busting out my Frog Tape and Wagner sprayer to overhaul the walls and vanity! I look forward to my very first tiling! WOOHOO! I have 2 whole weeks! That’s enough, right?! I mean, who needs sleep?

OK… this mama needs to get back to work! Peace! Don’t forget to check out all of my fellow DIYers and VOTE for your favorite renovation!
