One Room Challenge Spring 2021 Week 1 - The Vision

It’s that time of year where I watch many of my favorite IG designers reveal their One Room Challenge spaces wishing I was brave enough to participate. Only this time, I’m actually part of the fun! I’ve officially joined the club as a guest participant. This challenge is just what I need to nudge me to break ground on our construction trailer that we’re transforming into a bunkhouse for our family/friends and Airbnb guests to enjoy. I’ll be focusing on the bathroom for the One Room Challenge. Here’s a glimpse of the before……

I guess it’s not that bad! HA! See that can stuck to a pipe? That’s the toilet, folks. If you squint your eyes enough, you can start to see the potential! Can you see it? Here….why don’t I give you a few more angles of the space so you can get a bet…

This construction trailer was used as an art studio. It’s approximately 10ft by 30ft. We snagged it for $1750 and inherited lots and lots of STUFF (trash) with it!

This is the future kitchen behind me. This is right after the first round of demo. We had to remove 4 trailers full of junk collected by the previous owner and I think we removed more than 500 screws from the walls. Fun times! So next phase is a little more demo and then layout the space so we can start dialing in the electrical and plumbing.

Time to push up our sleeves, finish demo and cleanup and get rolling. You ready to see the vision I have for the space? Anyone want to come help? We’ll feed you pizza and beer!

Due to having nearly zero budget for this space, I’m using pieces we already have as a starting point for the design. We already have the vanity that we purchased two years ago for a bathroom in our old home. I’ve been obsessed with this black marble sink, so I know that needs to play a role in the design and those black tiles…I already snagged those at Habitat Restore last week! WOOHOO! And why not throw a swan faucet in for some unexpected fun! You only live once, right?! And finally, I will wrap it all up in a bow with some fantastic tile (TBD) and a some sort of soft pink botanical mural. There’s something about black and pink together! LOVE! I look forward to taking you all along for the ride as my hubby and I create a dreamy bathroom and turn this trash into treasure. I hope you’ll also check out some of the other projects that will surely keep me motivated and inspired throughout this 8 week process. You can find them all over at the One Room Challenge headquarters.
