Give Me All the Stripes
I can’t believe I didn’t try this sooner. Painting stripes on my walls was the best decision so far in this home. Not only do they look kick-ass, they also liberated me to start thinking outside the box with how we continued turning this once sad and drab house into a whimsical, fun, colorful and happy home.
Before we could entertain the idea of stripes, we had to deal with our texture situation. These people loved knock down texture. Due to our mutual discomfort with heights, Cookie and I decided to hire this job out and got a local drywall wizard to smooth out these chunky walls. The silver lining of hiring it out was that we were able to ditch the trim as well to give this room clean and modern facelift. We invested around $2k for this, but it was worth every penny.
Here’s where we started….
….here is where we ended up. Pink stripes for the win!
Turns out paintings stripes was pretty addictive, so we kept them going.
Clearly, I’m a super fan of painting on your walls. This project required 2 cans of sample paint, some inexpensive paintbrushes I swiped from my kids’ craft bin and some tape. Oh, don’t forget the level, a string and a pencil to make your curves.
